THE JOURNEY · 14 DAYS

Before. Day one. Day seven. Healed.

Lip blushing isn't lipstick. It's a layered, settled wash of pigment that looks loudest in the first 48 hours and lands at its true, soft colour around the two-week mark.

The lip blushing healing timeline shown in four framed photographs
01

Before

Your natural lip — colour, asymmetry, undertone.

02

Day 1

Bold. Saturated. About 40% darker than the result.

03

Day 7

Peeled, dry, lighter than expected — this is normal.

WHAT IT COSTS · USA

Between $450 and $2,000
for your first session.

Price varies by region, artist experience, and whether your work includes a touch-up. Below — first-session ranges from working studios in leading markets.

THE PROCEDURE

A cosmetic tattoo
that looks like skin.

A trained artist deposits soft pigment into the upper layers of your lip tissue to enhance natural colour, refine shape, and restore the definition that age, scar tissue, or just genetics took away.

The result reads closer to a quiet wash of colour than to lipstick — you should still, unmistakably, look like yourself.

Two sessions, six to eight weeks apart. Meaningful fade over two to five years. Regulated as a tattoo service in most U.S. states.

COMMON QUESTIONS

The questions women ask us most.

What is lip blushing?
Lip blushing is a soft cosmetic tattoo. A licensed artist deposits pigment into the upper layers of the lip to enhance natural colour, refine shape, and restore definition. Healed results read like skin, not like lipstick. Treatment is regulated as a tattoo service in most U.S. states.
How much does lip blushing cost in the United States?
First-session lip blushing in the U.S. ranges from $450 to $2,000. The most common range is $650 to $1,400 and typically includes a touch-up at six to eight weeks. Major metros like Los Angeles, New York, and Beverly Hills sit at the top of the range.
How long does lip blushing last?
Meaningful colour lasts two to five years for most clients. Lighter pigments, sun exposure, smoking, and skin turnover speed up fade. A periodic touch-up every 12 to 18 months keeps the result fresh.
Is lip blushing safe?
Lip blushing is safe when performed by a state-licensed body-art practitioner using single-use, sterile equipment and approved pigments. Confirm your artist holds a current bloodborne-pathogen certification and review the state-by-state safety checklist before booking.
Does lip blushing hurt?
Most clients describe lip blushing as mild discomfort, not pain. Artists apply topical anaesthetic before and during the session. Lips are tender for 48 to 72 hours afterwards.
How long does lip blushing take to heal?
Surface healing takes seven to ten days. Lips look bold for the first 48 hours, peel and lighten dramatically by day seven, and settle to their true, soft colour around day fourteen. Full colour lock happens at four to six weeks.
